I left my last entry hanging. As I was saying, "The Girl Next Door" is an interesting movie. Yes, it is a teenie weenie film, but it is also very relevant to the present times. It's also a funny film, so if you have some free time and just want to relax, watch it.
Anyway, finally, I was able to watch King Kong. Whew, it left me breathless, literally and figuratively. It was over before I realized that three hours had passed. Trust me, this movie is not for the faint-hearted. The action will not stop just to let you breathe more easily.
Once again, Peter Jackson has proven that 'small measure' is not in his vocabulary. Everything in the movie was up on the high scale. The story and effects were carefully crafted. The movie's characters came on strong.
We all know about King Kong and Skull Island. The story's been told. What Peter Jackson did differently was to focus more on the interaction between man and animal - and all the emotions involved in both party. It was an enlightening journey into the intricacies of how men and animal think and feel when brought upon each other to struggle and survive.
As to the effects, there's no need to expound. With Peter Jackson as director, you know what to expect. He once again showcased his "organic" brand. He will go to such lenghts, employing highly technological effects just to let a scene appear oh so natural.
